Privacy Policy

Draft — pending legal review

Who Is Responsible for Your Data

HorizonB is currently a pre-incorporation initiative. Until the legal entity is formally established, the founders named in the Imprint are jointly responsible as data controllers under the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Contact for privacy matters: contact@horizonb.net

This policy will be updated once HorizonB is incorporated and the operating company assumes data controller responsibility.

Scope

This policy applies to personal data processed through horizonb.net and any direct communication with HorizonB — for example, email inquiries sent to our contact address. It does not cover third-party platforms where the One Chair Podcast is distributed, including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and X. Those platforms operate under their own privacy policies, which you should review separately.

What We Collect Through the Website

The horizonb.net website is a static informational site. We do not operate user accounts, login systems, contact forms, or e-commerce. The limited categories of data processed when you visit the site are:

  • Server log data. Our hosting infrastructure automatically records technical information about each visit, including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages requested, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and operational diagnostics. We do not use it to build profiles of individual visitors.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. This site does not set tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. The browser may set strictly necessary technical cookies required by the hosting platform; these are not used by HorizonB for any analytical or marketing purpose.
  • Web fonts. This site loads no third-party fonts. All typography is served from HorizonB’s own infrastructure.

We do not currently use:

  • web analytics tools
  • marketing pixels or conversion tracking
  • chat widgets
  • embedded forms from third-party providers
  • A/B testing or personalisation tools

If we add any of these in the future, this policy will be updated before they are deployed, and where required we will request consent.

What We Collect When You Contact Us

When you contact HorizonB by email — for example, at contact@horizonb.net — we receive whatever personal data you choose to include in your message. Typically this is your name, email address, employer or affiliation, and the contents of your inquiry.

We process this data to respond to your inquiry, explore a potential advisory engagement, and, where applicable, maintain a record of the communication. Our legal basis is your consent (by initiating the communication) and our legitimate interest in conducting business correspondence (revFADP Art. 31; GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and (f)).

Email correspondence is processed and stored through Google Workspace, operated by Google LLC, with infrastructure in the United States and globally. Google operates under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and applies Standard Contractual Clauses for international data transfers from Switzerland and the EEA.

Hosting

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, United States. Netlify processes server log data as described in Section 03 on our behalf as a data processor. Netlify operates under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and applies Standard Contractual Clauses for international data transfers from Switzerland and the EEA.

Data We Do Not Collect

For clarity, we want to be explicit about what HorizonB does not do through this website:

  • We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.
  • We do not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.
  • We do not enrich visitor data with information from data brokers.
  • We do not track visitors across other websites.
  • We do not collect special categories of personal data, such as health, political opinions, or religious beliefs.

How Long We Keep Data

  • Server logs are retained for the period configured by our hosting provider, typically between 7 and 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted.
  • Email correspondence is retained for as long as it is relevant to an ongoing or potential business relationship, and thereafter for any legal retention period that applies. In Switzerland, business correspondence is generally subject to a 10-year retention obligation under Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations once a contractual relationship has been established.
  • Aggregated, non-personal data is retained indefinitely for operational purposes.

Your Rights

Under the revFADP and the GDPR, where it applies to you, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase your data, subject to applicable retention obligations.
  • Restrict the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch) or, where the GDPR applies, your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@horizonb.net. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing certain requests, particularly where the request involves access or erasure.

International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party services described above — in particular our email and hosting providers — process personal data outside Switzerland and the EEA, including in the United States. We rely on:

  • Adequacy decisions issued by the Swiss Federal Council or the European Commission, where applicable.
  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or recognised by Swiss authorities.
  • Additional safeguards as required by the revFADP for transfers to countries without adequate data protection.

Security

HorizonB takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:

  • HTTPS encryption for all website traffic.
  • Access controls on email and operational accounts.
  • Use of reputable service providers with established security practices.

No method of data transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your interaction with HorizonB has resulted in a data security issue, please contact us immediately.

Children

HorizonB’s services and content are directed at adult professional audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 16. If you believe we have received data from a minor, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or the legal framework. The “Draft — pending legal review” line at the top will be replaced with a last-updated date once this policy has been finalised. Subsequent revisions will update that date.

For material changes — for example, the introduction of analytics or new data-sharing arrangements — we will note the change clearly. Continued use of the website following a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
